Question:
We have a new 1.5 ton camper trailer with adjustable electri brake controller. We cant get the right setting. It either locks or pushes the car/ Prado. We cant be sure which one. Any ideas?

It is possible that the brake controller is mounted outside of the range specified in its manual and that could cause some unwanted behavior. If it is a time delay controller then you may need to adjust both the gain (power output) and the sync (how long it takes to ramp up to the preset gain level).
You can also check to make sure both the trailer side and vehicle side connectors are clean and free of corrosion both on the pins as well as inside where the wires attach.
I have included some links on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers as well.
