Question:
Thinking of buying the 2012 Toyota Corolla Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I - 1-1/4inch for my 2012 Corolla LE. The fixing holes on the underside of the frame are pretty rusty and I may need to clean them out with a tap. Do you know what the bolt size and thread is for the mounting bolts on the 2012 Corolla? Thanks!

The Curt Class I Round tube Receiver Hitch # C11265 uses 4 M12-1.25 x 30mm hex bolts. These bolts come with the trailer hitch. I only recommend using the included hardware to install the # C11265 trailer hitch.
Typically any vehicle that has seen a winter will need the weld nuts cleaned before installing a trailer hitch. We recommend using a lubricant and a wire or nylon brush to clean the weld nuts. Several of our installers like to use the Deka Battery Post and Terminal Cleaner - Wire Brush # DW00254. They feel that it is easier to clean the weld nuts with the wire brush. If you would rather use a nylon brush, you can use part # 814092.
I have attached an installation video of the # C11265 hitch being installed on a 2013 Toyota Corolla for you. Around the 0:45 mark there is an example of one of our installers cleaning the weld nuts.
