Question:
I have trailers with 205-75-15 load range C tires, and Im thinking about upgrading them to load range D tires with a higher speed rating of 81 mph instead of 65 mph if thats possible. I want to do this not because Im going to run higher loads and speeds, but because Ive had failures with load range C tires before. I want to add on a higher factor of safety knowing I can pull at full speed and full load and on a hot texas day with confidence that the tires are definitely okay. Do you guys carry trailers tires that are *205*75*15*, load range D, and speed rated for 81 mph? Is this a crazy idea I have?

We have one load range D tire in size 205/75-15, # AM10245, but it will have a 65 mph speed rating.
What I recommend is tire # TTWTRTM2057515C. It has an M speed rating which translates into 81 miles per hour. I would not recommend towing a trailer at that speed but that is what it is rated for. This is a load range C tire rated for 1,820 pounds at 50 psi.
Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire sidewall. This is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall than passenger vehicle tires to handle more vertical load. If under inflated the thicker sidewall generates excessive heat and can lead to failure.
