Question:
Does the hitched receiver need drilling. And will it go around a spare tire thats under the bed of the truck? 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

Expert Reply:
Curt trailer hitch # 14070 only fits 1-ton cab and chassis models of the 2010 Dodge Ram. So that would be the 3500 cab and no bed. These are the trucks they use to make service vehicles.
The highest capacity Curt hitch for a Ram 1500 without a factory trailer hitch is # C15572. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you. There is no drilling required for installation but you will need to temporarily move the spare. After installation you will put the spare tire back.
The recommended ball mount is # C45341. For a pin and clip you can use # C21500. For a 2-5/16 inch ball you can use # C40008. And if your truck does not have a connector you can use # 18252 to add a 4-Way.
