We can offer you choices in hitch cargo carriers for both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitch sizes. While most hitch carriers tend to be longer than 48-inches (60-inches is common) we do offer several that are close to your target size.
A great option is the Curt # C18145 because it fits both hitch sizes, is very cost-effective and measures 17 x 46-inches inside its rails (48 x 20 on the outside).
Another choice is the # C18113 which features aluminum construction and which measures 49 x 22-1/2-inches on the outside. Note this carrier fits only 2-inch hitches.
Curt also offers # C18110 which measures 47-3/4 x 19-11/16 on the outside, fits both hitch sizes and has a shank with 3-3/4-inches of rise for better ground clearance. The linked page will show you these and other carriers.
Keep in mind that your hitch's rating must be enough for the weight of the carrier itself plus that of your loaded cargo. There should be a sticker on the hitch that indicates its tongue weight (TW) capacity and you'll want to be sure you remain within its rated weight limit.
