Question:
I had seen an install video for a wiring kit for a 2011 GMC Sierra on your website. With your techs confirmation, I ordered a Hopkins 56101. I am unable to find the install video again now. Can you help me? Also, I am planning on using a carry-on brake system and understand there is an addition relay I will need to ensure the turn signals and brake light wont interfere with one another. Can you tell me what you have compatible with my vehicle and kit? Thank you for your help

I pulled one of the Hopkins Tow Bar Wiring Kit, part # HM56101 from our warehouse to take a look at the installation instructions. It can be confusing since they show the junction box that can be used on either the driver side or the passenger side. If you look on the frame at the rear of your truck on the driver side it will be adjacent to the spare tire.
There will be 4 connectors plugged into the junction box. You will need to find the blue connector and disconnect it. Then plug the 56101 connector into the location you just removed the truck connector from. The other blue connector on the 56101 will plug into the connector you took out of the junction box. I was not able to find an installation video for this wiring on a vehicle. The installation instructions on the inside of the packaging label do show what the connectors and junctions boxes look like for both the driver and passenger side.
Then find a place on the frame and drill a hole and attach the white ground wire with the eyelet attached.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
The carry-on supplemental brake system we offer like the Blue Ox Patriot, Portable Braking System, part # BLU37TR is a wireless system and does not require installation of a relay for operation.
