As long as your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, has the factory 7-Way tow package wiring at the rear of the vehicle all you will need is the Draw-Tite Brake Controller with Wiring for the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, item # 5504-3015-P, which includes the # 5504 brake controller and the # 3015-P wiring harness needed to install the brake controller on your truck. The # 3015-P adapter will plug into a port in the power distribution box under the dash on your truck.
If you do not have a factory connector on the rear of your truck you will also need to add the Pollak Twist-in, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector, part # PK11916, to give you a 7-Way connector at the rear of your vehicle.
You will not need to run all new wires. We have an FAQ article detailing the installation of a brake controller on your vehicle and a video for you to review (see links).
