Question:

I was wondering what the width/distance is between the load stops when they are extended all the way to each side? Also can the load stops be removed and then reattached on the outside of the vertical support columns to take advantage of the entire width of the crossbars?

The load stops included with the Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack # EM07705 when extended apart as far as they can go will be approximately 35-inches apart. I verified this with my technical contact at Erickson. It can be possible to move the load stops to the outsides of the vertical supports but this will depend on the truck. They have not tested this on your specific truck so they could not assure me 100-percent that there will be room. If you did mount the load stops on the outsides of the uprights you would lose the ability to move them unless you partially disassembled the rack and put them back on the insides of the uprights.

The TracRac Pro2 ladder rack # TH37004XT-EX also includes load stops and I confirmed with my contact there that these load stops can be spaced apart to a maximum of 53-inches. This TracRac system offers a higher 1000-lb load capacity, compared to 800-lbs for the Erickson, and carries a limited lifetime warranty rather than a 90-day warranty.
