How to Carry 4 Bikes with a 2012 Honda Crosstour

Question:

Is there a hitch with a 2 inch diameter available for a 2012 hondacrosstour? We have a need for a 4 bike bike rack and the only ones that will fit our mountain bikes are 2 inch.

We have exactly what you need. Starting with the hitch, I recommend the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7299. Since this is a class 3 hitch, it will allow you to carry 4 bikes.

For a bike rack, I recommend the Thule Hitching Post Pro Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH934XTR. This rack weighs approximately 38 pounds. This is important because the weight of the carrier added to the weight of your 4 bikes, must be less than the the tongue weight capacity of the hitch or your Honda whichever is less. My research shows that the tongue weight capacity of your 2012 Honda Crosstour could be considerably lower. Please check with your owner's manual or your local Honda Detail to determine your tongue weight capacity and make sure you adhere to the lowest measure.
