Which Way Do the Lips Go when Installing Replacement Dome Seal for Ventline Ventadome Vents

Question:
Ventline product BVD0455-01. The seal has a very small lip on one side. I was wondering which side the lip goes on, facing inside or facing outside. My thumb is on the lip in question in the picture. There is also a lip on top - to help seal I imagine. I assume the lip on the side should face out then - to seal with lid?

The lips on the Replacement Dome Seal # BVD0455-01 will face out and up, respectively. You can see it fairly well in the picture I have included.
