Question:

Can this tailgate assist be installed on the right passenger side of the tailgate? All instructions and videos are referring to the left driver side. The pre-drill hole the instruction is referring to on my vehicles tailgate is on the passenger side. The drivers side has an oval shape hole. 2015 F-350, Lariat ultimate package, 6.7L, 4x4, CC with built-in step tailgate. Thanks,

If the hole on your tailgate happens to be on the passenger side there is no reason the DeeZee Tailgate Assist part # DZ43203 wouldn't work on that side as well. The install would then just be on the opposite side of the tailgate.

i bought a replacement DeeZee tailgate assist b/c my first one broke off in the pre-drill hole in my f150 tailgate. can i install it on the passenger side which has an oval shaped hole?

@Chris I don't see why it wouldn't work in that orientation.

I will work whenever you take additional steps. The complication is that the passenger side hinge of the tailgate is slotted, which is how you remove the tailgate. If this issue is not addressed, the tailgate will be pulled off the right side hinge each time it is lowered. The solution is to add an anti-theft device, or at least a hose clamp, to the right side hinge. While this will make it harder to remove the tailgate, it will also prevent the tailgate from being pulled off by the cylinder.
