Power is Getting to Electric Trailer Brakes but the Brakes are Not Working

Question:

Our 1990 fifth wheel camper has power going to the brakes but there is no actul brakes what should be done.

It sounds like there is a problem with the brake magnets on the trailer. Inspect the power wires to the magnets and look for pinched, frayed, or damaged wires and fix as needed. Make sure the ground wires are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.

You can visually inspect the magnets and if you can see the copper windings coming through the magnets will need to be replaced. If you need a circuit tester, you could use one like # PTW2993.
