Question:

I just got the curt hitch for the 2015 lexus gx 460. The hitch seem to hit a small lip on the rear fender. does that piece have to be removed?

The installation instructions do not mention anything about it. Generally speaking if something is preventing proper installation of a trailer hitch, such as # C13043 for your 2015 Lexus GX 460, then the obstruction would either have to be removed or modified.

If you are talking about that cover that is directly above the receiver then you should be able to go ahead and torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. It may cause that fascia piece to flex some but wouldn't hurt it. Otherwise you would need to trim around the obstruction.

I have the same problem, there needs to be a 1/4" spacer between frame and hitch receiver. it really feels too tight like i will break the bumper if i attach this. Would inserting a couple of washer between the frame and receiver be a safety issue?

I don't recommend adding washers or spacers to increase the small gap you're dealing with. The best option is really to remove the panel portion that's creating the tight fit.
