We carry a lot of brake controllers, but there is one I recommend the most. The Tekonsha Prodigy P2, # 90885. This is one of our best selling and highest rated controllers. This brake controller does its job well. It is easy to use, easy to understand, and looks good. I have included a link to the installation details below.
This controller is a good, solid product. You can be confident with it. I see that you will more than likely need to hard wire the brake controller on your 1996 Chevy Suburban. You will need two other items in addition to the brake controller for installation. First is a 7 and 4 way installation kit, # ETBC7. Next, you will need Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # C55319. Installation is not very difficult and I can guide you through the process if you want. I have included an FAQ article on wiring a brake controller from scratch below and a video showing the installation of a Prodigy brake controller on a similar vehicle.
