my toyota tundra has a tow package with a 4pin plug can i install a brake controller using a different plug

Expert Reply:

Toyota didn't start equipping the Tundra with the brake controller connector under the dash until the 2003 model year. You can still install your brake controller, but you'll need to hardwire it in place using our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7.

The kit contains everything needed to install your brake controller, including an adapter to convert your existing 4-pole into a 7-way, all the wire, hardware and circuit breakers you'll need.

If you click the links I've provided, you can see the installation instructions for the ETBC7 kit, as well as an install video showing a controller being installed on a 2002 Tundra. The install procedure for your truck would be identical to that shown in the video.
