Question:
I bought my base plate from you guys last year. I remember seeing a wiring kit that plugged into the existing cars wiring to use the tail lights in the car. I didnt order it at the time because I was over budget. Now I want to find and purchase the kit. I have a base plate and remember seeing the harness in the instructions for the base plate. I remember seeing that it simply plugged into a socket in the engine compartment and the other end mounted on the two mounting bars that stick out front of the car on the base plate. do you have that part?

We actually don't carry any flat tow wiring for your 2008 Honda Element that plugs directly into the vehicle's wiring. We used to but it's been discontinued.
What is in the instructions for the base plates is just the connector that would be at the front of the vehicle and for that you can use # DM9523004. You would need to cut off the 4-Way end from kit # TM783101 and attach the wires to the back of one of the connectors in this kit. White is ground, brown is running lights, yellow is left turn signal/brake lights, and green is right turn signal/brake lights.
Also, if using a supplemental braking system you will also need to add additional diodes, # RM-690 for one, on the TrailerMate yellow, green, and brown wires. Otherwise the system will not work properly and you will get a back feeding problem.
I actually recommend using bulb and socket kit # RM-155 on your Element. Then you would just need a connector for the front of the vehicle, # PK12720 for a 6-Pole or # PK11410 for a 4-Pole. The bulb and socket kit bypasses the vehicle wiring so no additional diodes are needed.
