Camper Tie Down Recommendation for a 2009 Ford F-250 with B and W Hitch

Question:

Am wondering if my current Torklift brand truck camper hold down brackets will be useable with this trailer hitch. Currently using these brackets on the factory trailer hitch on my 2009 Ford F350. They are rectangular, and slid into the open box end on each side of the stock hitch. Am looking to increase the tongue weight carrying capacity without going to a Torklift SuperHitch.

The Torklift tie-downs you have are designed for vehicles using the factory hitch. If you go with the B and W hitch part # BWHDRH25230 you would need to go with tie-downs that are designed for setups using an aftermarket hitch.

What you will need to do is follow the link I attached that will take you to a page that has all of the Torklift camper tie-downs we offer. You will need to select your vehicle setup from the drop down menu and all of the correct tie-downs will be listed. Since you will most likely only need the rear tie-downs you will need to scroll down on the product page till you find the rear part number.

I have a 2000 F350 with the factory hitch that can use replacing. I too have the torklift tie down setup for the factory hitch. I’d rather not buy new ones and it sounds like based on this answer that I would need to get the ones made for an aftermarket hitch. Is there a factory equivalent hitch I can buy that would allow me to use the existing torklift setup I have? Or am I better off buying a new hitch and tie down brackets for the rear?

Even an aftermarket (Non-TorkLift) hitch would require different rear tie-down brackets than what are currently used with your OEM hitch. Unfortunately there isn't another hitch available that would let you keep those brackets. Your only option here would be a new hitch and new rear tie-downs (your existing front brackets would still be used). If you let me know what hitch you're considering I'd be happy to verify the right rear tie-down kit.

Im using the RP66083 distribution system on this with our trailer that I purchased from you in 2015. I want to keep using that of course. I guess I have a couple options? Maybe you can advise?1 Find a factory hitch assembly might be p/n 3C3Z-19D520-AA but still researching that which would allow me to use the existing tie downs.2 Buy a new 2 hitch. I do have a spare back there, they talk about spare tire size, 18 or 20. Are they concerned just about the wheel size or the overall diameter of the spare back there? I need to check what is sitting under there! In any case, there are only 4 class V hitches to choose from. I dont want to pay $650 for one dont need a double so that leaves 3. Tire size seems to be the factor, the biggest list is 20, is it best just to pick that one to make sure I have as much clearance as possible? That would be the C15410.Would need to know as well which tie downs I would buy for that setup so I could look at the total cost.3 Would be to go to a 2.5 hitch setup. I think if I did that though Id need to at least buy a new shank if so, which one? And would I need to buy a new head too to bolt onto the shank, or would the old one fit the new larger shank? Looks like I could go with the C15810 in that application.

I think the best option we have available to keep your existing setup as close to the same as possible is with the Curt Class V # C15410. You're certain to maintain spare tire storage with this model and there'd be no need to change out WD shanks or ball mounts with its 2" receiver. As long as your truck isn't equipped with boards/steps under the bed you would need the TorkLift Rear Tie-Downs # TLR3500.
