What If I Exceed Weight Limit of Class 3 Hitch

Question:
What is the weak link if I put my 7 thousand pound trailer on this challenger. Will the frame of the car bend? I will be using an equalizer hitch.

Expert Reply:
Exceeding the weight rating of the vehicle or hitch could cause engine damage, transmission damage, hitch failure and the hitch could rip out of the frame of the vehicle.
The important thing to remember is that the Curt trailer hitch # 13465 is rated for 3,500 pounds. If the vehicle is rated lower you go by the lower rating. You would not want to go beyond the capacity specified in your vehicle owners manual.
I cannot recommend using this hitch with an Equalizer hitch since it is not rated for use with weight distribution systems.
I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you.
