Should Weight Distribution Spring Bars be Engaged Before or After Loading the Trailer

Question:
Should the trunnion bars be engaged prior to loading the trailer or after? Does it matter? I got the WD system to haul a tractor and small front end loader which will put some weight and the back of the trailer while loading and unloading just wanted to make sure I dont damage the WD system in the process.

Expert Reply:
On a weight distribution system you will engage the spring bars after the trailer is loaded. It is not likely that you would damage the weight distribution system as you unload the trailer. The tension on the spring bars could change though which is why it is best to disengage them prior to unloading.
