Question:

I have a factory 1.25 trailer hitch on my Edge. I would like to replace it with a 2 version. what can I do to make this transition? Thanks

I spoke with my contact at CURT and he stated that Trailer Hitch # C13067, will install on a 2008 Ford Edge with a factory 1-1/4 hitch. It will sit below the factory hitch. This hitch is a good choice for your 2008 Ford Edge, and will give you the 2 inch Class III hitch you are wanting. It is bolt-on application, no welding is needed. Minor heat shield modification is required. It has a 4,000 lb. gross towing weight and a 400 lb tongue weight, but when towing you cannot exceed the vehicle recommended towing capacity.

You would also need a ball mount and hitch ball. The ball mount I would recommend is the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 8-1/4" Long - 7,500 lbs # C45010, and the pin and clip you need for that ball mount would be Hidden Hitch Pin and Clip For Class III, IV and V Trailer Hitch Receiver, # PC3.

The hitch ball I recommend is the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, 6,000 lbs GTW - Chrome, # 19247, it is a 2 inch ball, which is the common size for most couplers.

The wiring you need is the Tow Ready Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for the 2008 Edge by Ford, # 118551, it is a custom fit harness so there is no cutting, splicing, or taping.
