We have several kayak carriers that are designed to be able to carry 2 kayaks on the roof of your 2003 Dodge Durango.
I recommend a carrier like part # TH830 that is designed to fit round, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. This will allow you to carry 2 kayaks. This carrier includes the tie-down straps that secure the kayaks to the vehicle and tie-down straps that secure the bow and stern to the vehicle.
Using a carrier like this on your Durango would eliminate the need to use longer crossbars on the roof rack.
