will changing my 3 steps to 4 steps on my new passport elite trailer make the steps less steep?

That is hard to say, but what you can do is check out the dimensional picture I attached for the Flexco Steps part # SMFP-4400 and compare them to what you have to see how they would compare to what you currently have.
