How to Find the Transmission Fluid Return Line on a Nissan Murano
Question:
I am about to place the order for this cooler but before I do I have a question for the install. I have experience installing a similar cooler in a 1999 Blazer but I have not been able to find much information online for the Murano. The install is the same as far as what is going on but what I wanted to find out is which of the radiator hoses is the return hose. I am assuming it is the lower hose transmission hoses are in the driver side of the radiator as in much vehicle that tents to be the return but I am not 100 sure. Also, being a CVT, is there anything else that I have to worry? Fluid is fluid so I would not think so but it wont hurt to ask. Thanks!

Actually, CVT transmissions can use a special fluid that can be very expensive. I would check the owners manual or with a Nissan dealer to see if it takes special fluid and how much it costs.
The easiest way to determine which transmission line is the return is a simple test. Chock the wheels of the vehicle, step on the parking brake, and then start the motor. Keep your foot on the brake pedal and shift into drive for about 15 seconds. Then shift back into park and turn off the motor.
Under the vehicle one of the lines will be warmer than the other. The cooler line would be the return line.
