Question:

I recently noticed my Triflex controller power out numbers jumping around while going over a bridges expansion joints. When I reached smooth pavement again, the numbers evened out and everything was fine. I am concerned that if I am braking over rough or bumpy surfaces the required brake output will be less due to the pendulum giving false readings. Is my Triflex defective, or is this considered normal?

You do not indicate whether the brakes seem to be engaging properly when you are going over these small road surface irregularities. It could be that just the display itself is at fault, reacting to these bumps, at that the controller is still otherwise operating properly.

It may also be simply that your truck-to-trailer wiring is briefly losing its connection; this would cause the controller to see a changing electrical resistance and hence show a different output. Check to make sure that your truck socket and trailer plug contacts are clean, are not bent and fitted together properly. You can try adding some physical support to the connection - perhaps a bungee cord like # EM06701 or other means to hold the trailer plug in the vehicle socket - to see if this affects the controller's readout.
