Question:
Just a question regarding the SR15-C D Rings, I need to mount them in the wood planks on my trailer they are 2x6 solid planks and was wondering if I would use carriage bolts to mount the rings or regular bolts?

Expert Reply:
The Brophy Trailer D-Ring Tie Down # SR15-C has a 7/16-inch square opening for the shank of a carriage bolt. This would be the ideal installation method but you certainly could substitute a different type of fastener, say a 2-inch wood screw, if you think that would be adequate for your load requirements. The full 5000-lb break-strength rating of this tie-down would require carriage bolts.
