Can The DL10970 Hand Winch be Used to Secure the Load to the Trailer
Updated 04/07/2010 | Published 04/06/2010 >
Question:
If you have this winch attached to a trailer and have a load on the winch, will that load stay there if the trailer is moved 20 miles down the road? Will the winch back off and get slack in the cable?

The Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear winch is designed to only turn when the handle is turned. That being said, it is NOT designed to hold a load on a trailer. If you use the winch to pull a car on a trailer, the car should then be strapped to the trailer before transporting it. I would also disconnect the winch as to not keep tension on the cable when the car may bounce on the trailer as it is transported.
