Question:
There seems to be conflicting information within the expert replies regarding the need for stabilizing straps for non-trailer loads. See below two excerpts from expert replies within the QandA section that give different answers: The difference in non-trailer loads does not effect the 2014 Highlander. Curt will require the use of a stabilizing strap for non-trailer loads on their Class I, Class II and some Class III trailer hitches, but they do not have this requirement on part # C13200. Expert Reply by: John H As for the Curt hitch, in order to maintain their warranty, Curt does require that all non-trailer loads be supported by stabilizing straps, such as # 18050, for trailer hitch receiver part # C13200. Expert reply by: Leah S Can you clarify the need for stabilizing straps on a non-trailer load in my case a bike rack. Thanks.

Expert Reply:
I apologize for the confusion. I checked with Curt and since the Curt Hitch part # C13200 that you referenced is rated for use with a weight distribution system it does not require the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050.
Curt recommends the stabilizer strap for non-supported loads for all of their hitches that are 1-1/4 inch in size and for the Class III hitches that are NOT rated for use with a weight distribution system.
