can the unit be charged on the trailer when we are on full hock ups ?

As long as the charger for the Swift Hitch # SH02DIGITAL is being provided 12V-DC, it will charge. If you're using shore power (hook-ups), an AC to DC adapter is available as part # PP01, which will allow you to use 110-120V AC to charge the batteries in the camera and monitor.
