what is the weight capacity for this rack?

Surco does not list a capacity for the Safari baskets such as # SPS4550 because it exceeds the capacity of most vehicle roofs/rails. But my contact over at Surco said the capacity is 250 pounds evenly distributed. The limiting factor would likely be the capacity of the vehicle roof/rails so you would need to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or vehicle manufacturer for the capacities.
