The Blue Ox Patriot Supplementary Braking System # BLU37TR that you referenced is compatible with your 2006 Toyota Corolla and does not require a brake light relay. I confirmed this with my contact at Blue Ox. However, for your Corolla to be flat-towed safely a transmission lube pump installation is recommended by Remco Towing, a great resource for flat towing guidance.

If your Corolla uses a U341 transmission then you'll want lube pump # LP-BK01-019. If it uses a A245E transmission then instead you'll use lube pump # LP-BK01-009. We do not offer these pumps here at etrailer but Remco Towing can put you in touch with a local dealer. A transmission lube pump will prevent damage to your transmission from inadequate lubrication while towed.

Flat towing requires a number of components: base plates, safety cables, tow bar, a wiring/lighting kit and of course the supplemental braking system. The linked article covers each of these components in detail.

The base plates I recommend (if you do not have the XRS version) are the Blue Ox # BX3751 which feature a twist-lock drawbar design - no pins to get lost. If you have the XRS version then instead you can use Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 1165-1. Generally it is easiest to use base plates and tow bars from the same manufacturer as this avoids the complication and expense of adapters.

With the Blue Ox # BX3751 base plates I suggest their Alpha tow bar # BX7380. For safety cables I suggest the coiled Roadmaster # RM-643; their coiled design will keep them from dragging on the road surface.

For lighting I suggest you review the linked article for the various options, which range from easy-to-use magnetic kits that install in a few minutes to more complex permanent diode kits that require cutting into the vehicle's wiring.
