Cant Install Rotor All the Way on Trailer Spindle Using Bearing Buddy Grease Seal Set

Updated 02/10/2015 | Published 02/09/2015

Question:

I am changing drum brakes to Titan disc brakes and have also installed the bearing buddy seal savers. I cant get the rotor to slide far enough onto the spindle to install the caliper. Can the seal saver prevent the rotor from sliding on as far as it should? The inner seal is installed so it is flush with the hub so this is not the problem.

It will be a very tight fit, especially if you have previously wiped all the grease from the spindles prior to installing the rotors. What I believe is happening is the tight fit is preventing you from easily pushing the rotor all the way onto the spindle.

If you still have a free seal assembly not installed in a rotor yet you can do a dry test fit on a spindle to see if it seats in the proper position at all. If it doesn't then it is possible that for some reason the Bearing Buddy grease seal set # BB60002 is incompatible with your spindle.

I was had a similar situation taking a hub off a spindle. The seal held so tight to the spindle that pulling with all my strength would not pull it free. A little bearing grease on the spindle might be all you need to persuade it into place.
