Question:
I currently have a REESE 16K fifth wheel hitch installed on my 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 HD Diesel long bed. I am purchasing a 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 HD Diesel, Long Bed, dual wheels. The new truck has all the gooseneck/5th wheel connections for electrical. I have been told that the current Reese 16K I have will not fit the new Dodge 3500. I have also been told that having dually wheels decreases my ion of 5th wheel hitches. I am pretty sure I can sell my current Reese hitch for a fair price so that should get me partially the way there in purchasing a hitch that will fit the newer truck. I do want to stay safe towing but also I am looking for a cheaper solution than $1200-1500 pricing that Ive seen. 1. Is it true my current Reese will not fit? 2. Is there a rail system that I can buy that will fit my current hitch and fit the newer Dodge? 3. Do I really have to throw out the old hitch and buy new? Thanks so much for all you guys and girls do for us common folk.

As far as fits go the situation was that on Curt kit # C16430-204 they had excluded dually models. But we have installed this kit on a dually model and have been told by Curt recently that it will fit. So if your 2015 Ram 3500 does not have the factory prep package for a 5th wheel hitch, you should be able to use this Curt kit. And your Reese hitch will fit it.
But I can tell you that Reese installation kit, # RP50085-58, will fit dually models for sure and your hitch will fit this installation kit as well.
If your truck does have the factory prep package then what you would need is adapter # RP30154 and you could still use your Reese hitch.
