Im in the process of trading my 2012 arctic cat 450i in for a new 2013 arctic cat prowler 550xt sxs will my winch mount to this unit or will i need to get a mounting plate.

Yes, the Superwinch LT3000ATV Winch, # SW1130220, can be mounted on the 2013 Arctic Cat Prowler 550XT SXS using the same Custom-Fit ATV Winch Mounting Kit that is used for the 2012 Arctic Cat 450i. If you don't want to remove the mount from the frame, then I recommend simply replacing it with # BDW15170. This will work well with your winch or you can always upgrade to a stronger winch with a better gear ratio like the Bulldog Winch Powersports Series UTV Winch - Wire Rope - Roller Fairlead - 6,000 lbs # BDW15022 to give you confidence to go pretty much anywhere and get back home.
