Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Yakima universal 9 millimeter quick-release skewer for fork-mounted bike racks. This universal skewer lets you carry a bike with a 9 millimeter quick-release skewer on a fork-mount style bike carrier. This is compatible with 9 millimeter by 100 millimeter bike axles. It's also lockable with the Yakima same-key system lock core, part number Y07202. It is sold separately and available at etrailer.com, but a lock core installs here, and then you operate the locking function with the key that comes with that lock system.Now, SKS cores can be changed out to make all of your Yakima locks keyed alike. We're looking at a durable stainless steel construction on the universal skewer.
It does a great job at resisting rust and corrosion, a very strong design, and it's also covered with a limited lifetime warranty.Now, this is super easy to use. Basically, what you do is you take this threaded portion here, this knob, and you remove it from the skewer. Then you place the skewer through the appropriate point at the head of your bike rack, place the threaded knob back on. I like to leave it in an open position. And then you drop your bike on here.
The fork of the bike would go on here.And then you have adjustability, so you can tighten or loosen the skewer here using the knob. It's got an easy-grip design for easy tightening and loosening. And then what you do is you take this and you roll it up, and that's your cam action. So that finishes the tightening process. You want to make sure you get a nice snug fit.
And then if you have the lock core installed, you can lock it and that would prevent from this from being able to release until it's unlocked.That's going to do it for today's look at the Yakima universal 9 millimeter quick-release skewer for fork-mounted bike racks.
