Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Durabilt ratcheting chain binder with the eye fittings. Has a 12,000 pound working load limit. Now, the ratchet chain binder like this will increase the tension in the chain until it's taut using a twisting or ratcheting mechanism. The ratchet binders are often viewed as a safer option cause they do not store as much energy in the handle, so it reduces the risk of recoil and harming the user.
These ratchet binders have the lever and the screw working together, which means it takes less pulling on the handle to apply tension to the binder. So, it is perfect for agricultural and industrial tie-down applications. Zoom in here, you can see the ratcheting mechanism right here makes it very easy to tension change. Allows you to safety remove the ratchet binder when finished. And it has a lever here that if you push one, what you can ratchet one way.
And if you push it the up, down the other way, that'll let you ratchet the other way. So, you can change your ratchet rotation by pushing that lever down. The eye fittings you can see on this one will let you easily connect your hooks or links. The bearings in here, these will extend to provide extra reach. The screw diameter on them is 7/8 of an inch.
If you notice on the barrel itself, has these grease zerk fittings. It allows you to hook a grease gun to it. And you can pump grease in there for easy lubrication of the bearings. Now, the continuous take-up feature provides a finite adjustment. The take-up length is about six inches.
So, the distance between these bearings, in other words, when they're closed, tightened all the way down, it's gonna be about 12 1/4 inches. And when you twist these open, it's gonna go out to about 18 1/4 inches. This is a nice steel construction. It's very durable. You can see it as a red paint finish on the handle and on the barrel which is highly visible. On the eye fittings, you can see they have a nice yellow zinc finish for resist, to resist corrosion. Now, this part does meet or exceed the CVSA and Department of Transportation standards. Few specs on this again, the safe working load limit is 12,000 pounds. The proof load limit is 24,000 pounds. Now, the handle length measured from here to the end, we get our tape measure on that. And you can see that's gonna be right at 15 inches. The barrel length, which we've measured from here to here, and it's gonna be right at 10 inches. And the weight on this is 6.6 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the Durabilt ratcheting chain binder with the eye fittings and a 12,000 pound working load limit..

I have had 4 of the Durabuilt ratchet chain binders w/multiple hooks for about 1 year now and I will say that they are well worth the money. They give you so many options when securing different equipment, the chain and regular ratchet binders work but are just not as convenient as having the chain incorporated into the binder. I own and operate a demolition/excavation company and haul everything from compact track loaders to dozers and excavators, we are likely to haul a different piece of equipment each day so having the flexibility of attaching to different points that these binders provide has saved me time and effort over the past year. No more digging out your four 20 ft foot chains that hang on everything in the box when you can just grab these 4 binders and be done securing your load in no time.
Very nice heavy duty binder! Have tried other brands that were not near the quality of these.

The item is fine just as expected. Manufacturer should also make these in the lighter 5/16 chain I would be more interested in buying more.
Customer service and contact from etrailer was excellent. I wish their site had said product was out of stock, but they soon followed up and gave estimates for possible delivery. Because there was a delay, I stumbled across the same product on line and they were happy to price match, so many thanks for that, as I had already been waiting and was happy with the great support at etrailer.
The (4) binders arrived today in a box, with basically no packing and since they were heavy, the box was a little big and it was like they were in a rock tumbler. I like to take care of everything I own, yes they may eventually get scuffed from chains or something, but the nicely painted (thick coat of paint) surface is chipped in many areas and the bare handles feel rough and semi-sharp from the fresh jagged paint chips. I'll get over it, but after everything else being great, it ended in some disappointment on delivery day. I would have rated lower, if not for the great customer support. If I had no interaction with anyone, it would have likely been below average. So keep the great people and just pack a little better. Thanks for all the effort, until packing...
