This unit replaces the mounting plate for the Thule Spare Me spare tire-mounted bike carriers. It provides the attachment point for the mounting bracket of the bike carrier. It installs behind your spare tire. It's made from durable steel. It's a direct replacement.
And it features protective finishing on it, so it's gonna be kept safe from rust and corrosion.Now, this works with part numbers TH963, TH963XT, TH963XTR, and TH963PRO, also TH943. The post right here measures about 2 3/4 inches long. One inch wide by one inch tall. Works like a charm. Needed a new mount plate after changing cars and got a jeep with similar spare tire mount (old plate went with old car) Worked seemlessly and honestly fits a little better.

I received the plate yesterday and am happy to report back that it is a "confirmed perfect fit" on a Honda CRV 2001.

I bought a an older model of the the Thule Spare Me bike carrier (model 963) off of Craigslist. It came with the original mounting bracket but the bracket would not fit our 2008 Toyota RAV 4. I ordered this replacement and everything fit perfectly. The only confusion came when I was looking at the original instruction sheets for the carrier (supplied to us by the previous owner, who bought the carrier new). It showed this bracket as p/n 753-3532, which is the same p/n as for the replacement. I was concerned that I might get the same non-fitting adapter. That was not the case. They changed the design but not the part number.

Could not be happier with etrailer. I own an original Spareme Thule bike carrier that I have used on my 1999 Rav 4. When I traded it in for a 2012 Rav the rack no longer fit due to the changes made to the spare tire mount. I emailed Thule about my problem and was told by two different people that nothing could be done to make my rack fit. After some online research I found Etrailer. Upon reading some reviews I found others who had the same problem. Etrailer was able to supply a new mounting plate that Thule said was not available. The part fit perfectly and I was able to mount my rack. Two thumbs down to Thule. High fives to Etrailer!
I lost the adapter to my Thule spare tire mount rack over 15 years ago, but held onto the rack. I couldn't find the part at local bike shops, and they weren't helpful at all. I found this adapter on etrailer, gave it a shot and we're back in business. Excellent transaction, and the adapter works perfectly. Very pleased.

Id be curious to know what your old rack looks like. one of the posts made it sound like the adapter wouldnt fit if the rack is black. Mine is black but this part looks like it would fit fine. Mine is black and more square across the bottom than the newer racks.
Someone sold me a Thule Rack with out this plate. The whole process of finding replacement parts for it has made it almost not worth the low price I paid for the rack. Oh ya and employee George J was painful to deal with and even more frustrating when etrailer confirmed it was a George J. is just Robot that need it bugs worked out.. In hindsight I feel I may of had a better experience purchasing from [other store] instead of etrailer.

The product is exactly what I needed for my Jeep Wrangler and Thule Spare Me rack, however, upon installation, I realized that there is a long and a short mounting bracket that sits on the back of the bike rack. Unfortunately the (used) rack I purchased utilized the "long bracket" which is ideal for large/custom spare tires. I have the standard factory tires so I needed the short mounting bracket. I wish I would have realized this before ordering the mounting plate to save on shipping and time, otherwise happy with this particular part from etrailer.
I purchased the Replacement Mounting Plate for Thule Spare Me from etrailer.com A year ago. I've had it mounted since my purchase. It is durable and has withstood the elements. I am certain this product will last a lifetime.
After having a set of tires put on my Jeep, the dealer misplaced the mounting bracket. I searched and found the exact replacement from etrailer.com. Within 48 hours of placing the order, I had received my package. Mounted and fit perfect, back in business better than new. Thank you for such great service and pricing.
It worked. Now I can use my Thule bike rack on my RAV4. That's what I ordered it for . It came in on time .I am pleased. Mark, who I spoke to when I called helped me research whether this bracket would work. He was most helpful. In addition, it is priced better here than at Thule and the service is much better. Getting to speak to a live human who was helpful is excellent.
I have owned the Thule Spare Me bike carrier for a while now. It works great, but I switched from a 2002 Toyota Rav4 to a 2010 Rav4, and the mounting plate no longer worked for my new car. I thought about cutting, grinding and making the old one work, but I figured it wouldn't be worth it. So I figured I'd save some time and energy and buy a replacement. The price was right and shipping was only $4.99. It arrived in 3 days (WOW). It seems like it will work great but I haven't put it on yet. Etrailer.com was one of the only places I was able to find replacement parts, or you could check with Thule, but they seemed to be more expensive.
Bought an older Thule spare tire bike carrier rack but the seller had left this part on the vehicle when he traded it in. Tried to order directly from Thule but was told part was no longer available for my carrier. Ordered this one and worked great on my rack and tire mount. Very sturdy, saved me from a bad purchase and allowed me to save a few dollars.

This item did exactly what we needed it to do. We left the old mounting plate on the other vehicle, and put this one on the 2009 Rav4. Then we moved the Thule Spare Me Carrier to the Rav4. It was easy and quick. Works great!
Also, kudos to the etrailer staff for follow up emails, and quick delivery!
Simple solution and the missing piece I needed for my rack. My only complaint it that it doesn’t have 5x150 bolt pattern (Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, LX, etc). I was able to widen three holes slightly to make it fit. There’s still plenty of material to be sandwiched behind the wheel it shouldn’t be an issue, but if I knew this before I probably would have just welded up my own plate.
