Video Transcript for Bearing Spec Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Replacement Agricultural Hub Bearing. Now this is a high quality tapered roller bearing which is designed for high speed use. Now all the bearings, when you purchase them, will be stamped with an industry standard number on it regardless of the brand of the bearing. On this one, if you can see, it's stamped LM603049. Now, the important measurement on the bearing is the inner diameter and that is listed to help you choose the correct bearing for your spindle. On this one the inner diameter is 1.781.

The matching bearing race that this will sit in is part number 603011. We do sell that separately on our website. Now the application for this part number is an inner bearing on a 4500lb agricultural hub, part number AH45880F. That should do it for the review in the Replacement Agricultural Hub Bearing.

  • How to Tell if a Trailer Bearing has Been Overheated and Needs Replaced
If the bearing is brown or black then that is a sign that it has been overheated and will need to be replaced. You will also need to replace the race. Replace all these parts on both sides of the axle at the same time. Only certain races can be used with a given spindle and hub so it is not likely there are ones that will fit without also changing either the hubs, spindles, or both. Also, going to a larger size does not increase the capacity of the trailer. That will be set by the axles. The...

  • How Tight Should Spindle Castle Nuts be Tightened
The nut on the spindle should be tightened until snug, with no side-to-side play in the hub and then backed off slightly, about maybe a 1/8 of a turn. If the spindle uses a castle nut and cotter pin or tang nut, tighten the nut finger tight until it stops, then back it off so the cotter pin or washer tang fits into the next indentation of the castle nut. If you click on the video link I provided, and forward to the 1:40 mark, you can see one of our techs demonstrating how to tighten a...

  • Solution for Replacement Hubs on Mobile Home Axle
Mobile home axles are intended for one time use and 99% of the time they do not use standard bearing combinations. Based on those measurements you have # 603049 and # LM67048 bearings which won't match up to any replacement hub. Your only option is to replace the axle with a standard trailer axle. I have attached a link to all of our axles below as well as a video which explains how to measure.

  • Bearing Needed with 1.780" Inner Diameter
We do have the bearing # 603049 which has an ID of 1.781" but it has as OD that is slightly larger than the # 25580 bearing so you wouldn't be able to use the same race. This bearing has an OD of 3.063". We don't currently carry a race for it though as it isn't a very common bearing so that would need to be sourced elsewhere.

  • Axle Replacement Recommendation for a Trailer with Unique Spindle Dimensions
The closest seal we have to what would match what you have would be the part # 168255TB. This seal has an outer diameter of 2.561. The inner bearing with the matching ID would be the part # 603049. Nothing we have would fit the 2.328 you have for the bearing inner diameter of the other bearing. Based on the dimensions you listed there really isn't any thing out there that would fit your spindle/hub. The only recommendation I could make would be for a new axle. I attached a page that has...

  • How To Determine Which Hubs & Bearings You Need For Replacement
The best way to know your exact parts you need for replacement is to take the hubs and bearings apart so you can give us the exact inner and outer bearing numbers so we can find the replacement parts. We want to avoid giving you part that otherwise would not fit. For example you advised me that your have a 2007 trailstar tracker trailer. 4.5. 5 lug. If by 4.5 you mean that your axle capacity is 4.5k lbs. Your bearing could be # 603049.That bearing has a inner diameter of 1.781" and outer...

  • Trailer Bearing with Inner Diameter Close to 1.80 inch
The bearing we offer that has the closest inner diameter to 1.80 inch is the part # 603049 which has an inner diameter of 1.781 inch. The outer diameter is then 3.063 inch. If you aren't totally sure what your spindle diameter is we have the digital caliper part # PTW80157 you could use to verify the dimension.

  • How to Determine the Correct Replacement Bearings for a Boat Trailer
The first thing I would do is take the trailer to a shop that works on trailers to determine if there is any other damage to any other component beyond the bearings and seals. Otherwise, you risk the same thing happening again. To determine what bearings you need as replacements, pull the hub from the other side and get the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the metal of the bearings. I have included a link to a video that might help. I would replace the bearing sets on both...
