What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this really cool track system. It is the Rhino-Rack RT-Style roof rack track system. Some vehicles, we don't have the option to put a roof rack on the roof. Kind of like our Odyssey, we have here. Usually it's because of sliding doors, but there are some other instances, where we aren't gonna be able to put a roof rack on here.
But with these rails, it's going to allow us to do that. We can do a two-bar setup, to get a lot of accessories on our roof. With the Rhino-Rack kit, we have two different cross bars to pick from, and two different colors for each. Or we can just go with the arrow cross bars. It's gonna be a little bit quieter up on your roof, a little bit more aerodynamic.
And then, we're gonna have the HD bars as well. So pick whichever ones you think is gonna be best for you. In my opinion, the arrow bars are typically the ones that are gonna work with most of your accessories. On the one side, we're gonna have an open little slot, so we don't have to remove anything, to put in our accessories. And with our towers that we're using, for the arrow bar system, all of your accessories are gonna slide in this little end cap here.
So you don't have to remove anything, which is nice. And it goes all the way along the whole entire track. So you really find out exactly where you wanna put your bars. And it's gonna accept a block that is about 1 inch by 13/16 of an inch. The Rhino-Rack system is awesome, when it comes to taking your towers and your crossbars off.
All you need is your key. You're gonna unlock this, and look at that. All you gotta do is pull these in, pull this out, and we're gonna have a little end cap here. If you wanted to take these off, all you have to do is just take the little tool, loosen it, and slide it all the way off. But I do not mind having these on here, cause it's gonna be a lot quicker than your other option, which is Thule. The Thule ones, the towers are gonna take a little bit longer to take off, but they won't leave this little bottom section. So that's kind of all up to you. I like having these here, just because it makes for adjusting the whole entire roof rack a lot quicker. And also, I just don't mind the look. I think it kind of looks cool. So, if I we're to go with one of the two kits, you have an option for, whether it's a Thule or the Rhino-Rack, I would definitely go with the Rhino-Rack. So if we wanted to go back to the bare track system, it would just loosen it up, and then you can just go ahead and slide it out and we're done. So, I think that's also gonna be quicker, than the Thule option, which is why I really like the Rhino-Rack. Of your two options, both the Thule and the Rhino-Rack, the track system is gonna be a flat black. Which I think that's the best looking, in my opinion. I don't know if it's just because of our white car, but it does look really, really good. And that's pretty much it, for a look at the Rhino-Rack RT-Style roof rack track system..

The 1.5 inch ones provided were too short. It was a little tough sourcing T/Bolts that would work. It would have been nice if longer T-Bolts could have been an option from Rhino Rack.
I like the Rhino Rack RTV track because is allows Vortex Aero cross bars to be easily moved and removed. However the appropriately sized rectangular track nuts (M6 24x21x5 part No. N057) used to mount items to the rack are no longer available or manufactured. Consequently RTV track cannot be easily used to secure additional items. Rhino Rack is unable to offer a solution other than returning the wrong sized track nuts so I will manufacture my own attachment nuts. After drilling 18 holes in the roof of my new car and installing the RTV track and cross bars, the lack of compatible nuts was a big disappointment. The product should not be sold if components are not available.
I bought Rhino-Rack Heavy Duty Crossbars because they are made to support Rhino-Rack products, including the Batwing Awning I had purchased for a RAM Promaster High Roof van. The crossbars work very well with the awning. However, I have discovered that Rhino-Rack does not provide a solution to attach non-Rhino-Rack products directly to the crossbars. For example, solar panels. There are fixed attachment points for racks on a Promaster. The distance between the crossbars is greater than the length of my solar panels. So I need to attach side rails to my crossbars for mounting my solar panels. Rhino-Rack does not offer side rails that can be attached to the crossbars. They only make baskets and brackets for specific items. They recommend going to licensed installers to get side rails installed. But I could not find an installer who is willing to help. They don't want the hassle and/or they don't want to jeopardize their standing with Rhino-Rack. So, I am left with having to come up with a solution on my own. Very frustrating.
eTrailer is always very helpful and tried their best to find a solution for me. But they were stymied, too.
If you just need Rhino-Rack Crossbars for other Rhino-Rack products, they are great. If you want to carry other manufacturer's products, look for something else.
the rails worked great on 8' topper. I used my own SS screws not the rivets supplied. I only gave a 4 because it was missing one of the end caps. :(
sturdy, coated steel or stainless 5mm (3/16) rivets included to reduce corrosion chances.
problem encountered: air riveter required (readily available to borrow or purchase ) due to strength of rivets , the problem is all common rivet guns are too large in diameter to fit into the rail "valley" so the tip is flush with the surface of the hole which is required for proper fastening. In some rhino rack instructional videos these are clearly made with enlarged spaces to fit rivet gun . are these really rhino rack or knock off ? bad production run ? I solved the problem because I have access to a machine shop and was under time pressure due to a planned trip but most customers would be in a mess with no way to solve this issue.
that said , after several extra hours of effort I successfully mounted the rails and new pioneer rack and roof top tent on my naked metal roof and i am happily able to go down the road.
ps
Shiela was wonderful! fantastic customer service ,all other rhino products received from e trailer were great, e trailer was speedy and very helpful!
Mostly satisfied. Not issue of etrailers and nothing really wrong with the product but do find it funny and a bit dumb that RhinoRack gives you security screws to hold feet to track but the rails are attached with a standard bolt that can be easily seen and accessed by anyone.
Work great and look good. Easy to insta ll.
Nice rack system, strong and durable. Used on a Ford e350 to mount solar panels. Only draw back, one of the L brackets that goes under the rain gutter was not bent square enough and this caused the bracket to slide off when tightened. I had to adjust this with a clamp and hammer, no issues since.
I was building a rack for the skin on frame sailboat I built. I needed a crossbar on the top of my truck but the tracks were longer than I needed. I ended up cutting one of the tracks in half and redrilling the holes for the end caps on the cut ends. It was a little difficult to bend the track along the curved profile of my 2019 Ram Classic roof and get the holes where I needed. It says not to use a pop riveter but I didn't have a pneumatic one and have very good grip strength. I needed every bit of my grip strength in both hands to make it work but it did, in fact work. I used tape to cover the track around the rivets and prevent scratches because when the rivets pop, it's a little out of control. Overall it turned out well. I ended up machining a custom crossbar and T nuts due to having a machine shop on my garage.
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
I’ve had this rhino rack for over 3 years and it’s been excellent on long road trips to the ski slopes. A year after my purchase, I realized that I was missing the plastic coverings that attached to the end of the bars and called their customer service to resolve the missing pieces. I was impressed with their quick response and seamless delivery.
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
Amazing product. Fit, finish, quality is absolutely amazing!
Have hauled our bikes all over MI, through the UP, and back. They never moved. Rack is super simple to remove from the rails to grant full access to the PU bed.
I think this is one of the Best options out there for taking your bikes with you while still having your covered bed space. I also can install a Ski box for the winter. Ski's in the box while gear in the covered bed.
For the most part easy install, very straightforward, inserting the rubber into the rails needed some effort. The video on your website of the install has the rubber already inserted.
Thanks to etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
Wish they had a kayak rack to mount to areo bars
Product itself is fantastic, I strongly recommend.
I have had these on for more than a year. Most common use case is carrying a 60lb, 16' long canoe.
I installed with rivets into the roof sheet metal. No issues at all with any rivets coming loose, and zero leakage. I use it with a Yakima crossbars with the quick release mounts. The feet are bolted to the tracks. The crossbars just click into the feet. They take literally less than a minute to attach or remove. I've had a few roof rack systems and this is by far the best.
I used the etrailer videos for the installation and they were more than enough. The riveting was nerve-wracking on the first one, but actually very simple. I suggest really taking your time to assure parallel. This can be tricky depending on your roofline. I marked a centerline down my roof and set the tracks based on that.
The only downside I have run into is not at all a fault in the tracks. Because they rivet into the roof sheet metal, it's susceptible to a bit of flex. I see this under the front of the tracks when I crank down on the bowline of the boat. That's a very large lever pulling down on the rack into the roof sheet metal. No lasting issues, I can just see the metal move.
Another small thing to note is that if your roof is curved where the front or real of the rail lands, the plastic end cap might have a small gap under it. It's not itself held down to the roof, it just slots into the track. I have a small gap on mine and it's not a functional issue at all.
These are the perfect racks for a low profile mounting of solar panels on my Sprinter van.
Kit was great, except my SnugTop cover required longer T-Bolts for mounting the tracks. The 1.5 inch ones provided were too short. It was a little tough sourcing T/Bolts that would work. It would have been nice if longer T-Bolts could have been an option from Rhino Rack.
I am normally a exclusive Amazon shopper, but etrailer gives equal or better service and has specialty items you just can't find anywhere else. The pricing is great also. This is my 4th order from them on this project and the response has been perfect and the shipping has been prompt. They even offered to take back an item that I did not need. I desperately wanted to mount my 19ft Kayak on my new RV and with some Rhino RT tracks, a Rhino Nautic kayak lifter, a few really heavy duty rivets, and some ingenuity, I was able to accomplish the task. I am replacing the current Nautic bars with the heavy duty bars. See the attached pictures.
Here are some pics of the Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Roof Rack Crossbars - Silver - 50" Long - Qty 2 installed on my 2011 Honda CR-V.
That I recently purchased.
The M8 bolts and spring washer were missing from the packaging. A 30min job turned into 3 hours. At this price that is very disappointing. The racks are solid but installation is a bit weird. I wish the M10 channel nut was in a fixed position. It was a pain getting it to stay in the proper orientation while tightening. Also the end caps don't snap in and are easily pulled off. Overall the racks will do good but for the price I was expecting better.
