RV Sinks for kitchen undermount installs
Swapping an RV galley to an undermount is easier when the sink matches your existing cutout. These kitchen sinks are set up for underside installs, so confirm the overall, bowl, and flange measurements against your countertop. Some installs use threaded studs with L-brackets and wing nuts tightened in a clockwise sequence, and depth or single-vs-double bowls can affect plumbing and space for larger dishes.
Yes, some undermount kitchen sinks have been successfully top-mounted. When there are no attachments, set the sink in a bead of silicone or similar sealant and weight it until cured. Many undermount sinks don't have faucet holes, so plan to cut the countertop for a single-mount faucet or accessories. If the new sink is deeper than the old one, expect minor plumbing adjustments.
Not all undermount kitchen sinks come with undermount hardware. Look for threaded studs under the flange and matching L-brackets with wing nuts. If hardware isn't included, you'll need compatible brackets or consider a drop-in install with silicone and weight while it cures. Before tightening, verify stud threads and that wing nuts spin on smoothly to reduce the chance of stripping.
Use the L-brackets over the threaded studs and lightly tighten the wing nuts, then go around in a clockwise rotation to snug them down. The studs are used for both top and underside installs and aren't meant to be removed. Check that the wing nuts start cleanly on the threads and avoid over-torquing weaker threaded pems. Seal the rim well to help prevent leaks that can lift particle board.
A single-basin undermount kitchen sink can make larger dishes and pots easier to handle. Shallow double basins were noted as a challenge for big items, while swapping to a single basin felt like an upgrade. If you change configurations, check your drain layout—going to double may require a second drain modification, while going to single consolidates to one drain.
