  • Comparing the Air Lift 7500 Airbags vs Firestone 7500 Airbags for a 2015 GMC Sierra 3500
  • For your 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali DRW 4x4, I recommend using the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs part # F2702 over the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs part # AL57538 for two reasons. The first reason is that the Air Lift kit requires drilling into the frame (minimal) whereas the Firestone kit is completely drill free. The second reason is in regards to the construction of the airbags. The Firestone airbags use a crimp rolled design which is...

  • Advice on Towing a Fifth Wheel Trailer With a Short Bed 2017 Ram 2500 With Rambox
  • Thank you for your thoughtful question; let's start with the suspension components for your 2017 Ram 2500 first. I recommend using the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2598 over Timbrens for your application. The Ride-Rite air bags have the advantage of being able to adjust individually to guarantee you even load distribution, and are going to be less rigid than the Timbrens. As far as a fifth wheel hitch, you are going to have to use a Sidewinder because you have a Rambox...

  • Rear Suspension Helper Springs for a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • Hello, I will be happy to help you select some helper springs to improve the ride and level out the truck when you are towing. Timbren springs are an easy install but they will make the ride stiffer when you are not towing. The similar SumoSprings Solo # SSR-207-47 will also level out the truck but will not be as stiff when not towing compared to the Timbren springs. Another option to consider is Roadmaster Active Suspension # RAS3611-HD. Installation is easy with this kit as...

  • The 1,000 pound capacity SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-117-40 for 4 Wheel Drive and # SSR-116-40 for 2 Wheel Drive referenced in your question will offer a smoother empty ride in your 2016 Ford F-150 than a higher rated alternative spring. It is important though to keep in mind that any weight coming from behind the rear axle of your F-150 and from the trailer hitch itself should also be considered when choosing a suspension enhancement system, as this will be included to...

  • If you wanted to install SumoSprings on your 2017 Fleetwood Bounder built on a Ford F-53 that are designed for the higher GVWR chassis you could but you should note that it would probably give you a harsher ride quality than you'd want. For GVWR between 20k and 26k you'd want the part # SSR-187-54-1. The kit for 20-22k like what you have would be the part # SSR-180-54-1 which would give you the support you want without sacrificing ride quality. I can see how it would be tempting to...

  • Is it Normal for PSI to Double in Air Bags After Loading 2014 Ram 3500
  • I spoke with my contact at Air Lift about kit # AL57295 on your 2014 Ram 3500. He stated that what you are experiencing is normal. What I recommend is getting the truck loaded up and the trailer coupled and then adding however much air is needed to the air bags. If this is a 5th wheel trailer then at 25,900 pounds the pin weight pressing downward on the rear axle will be around 5,180 pounds so in that case it would be slightly over the capacity of this system. If you are not towing...

  • The SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs - 2 Piece - Front Axle # SSF-173-40-2 will support the load and compress together on your motorhome all the time when there is weight. The split design is a benefit for the individual springs when the suspension travel is greater than what a single non-split design could handle. In other words, when one wheel travels lower on a turn, the spring will not take weight off the wheel so it has more weight in contact with the road for better traction....

They will work to help take some of the stress off your existing components by stiffening the leaf springs. This will in turn help to improve handling, stability, and vehicle sag.
