Installation of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e48AR will not require any drilling on your 2021 Jeep Compass. This features a bolt-on installation and uses existing holes in the frame. However, you will need to trim the bumper cover and heat shield before reinstalling.
Although we do not have an installation video for this hitch, the process is identical for the Curt # C13363. I have attached an installation video of the Curt hitch... view full answer...
Yes you absolutely can use a step bit to enlarge the holes. There is definitely more than one way to do it. We always say to use a drill, file or rotary tool. A drill bit being the preferred method of our installers. I see that you were searching for parts for a 2018 Jeep Compass. If So I recommend our etrailer class 3 hitch # e48AR. Installation of this hitch likely will require access holes to be enlarged. view full answer...
Since you already have the 4-pole trailer connector in place, the rest is pretty easy. If your trailer does not have brakes and you don't need the 12-v feed from the battery of the tow vehicle, you can simply use the
# 31785 4-pole to 7-way adapter. Plug the 4 pole from the adapter into the 4-pole you installed and ground the white wire to the vehicle frame, and you're good to go. You'll also need a bracket like # 18136 to mount the 7-way to the hitch crossbar.
If your trailer has electric... view full answer...
To install the Curt Class II # C12174 hitch on a 2018 Jeep Compass, you won't need to cut a hole in the bumper itself, but you WILL need to cut a 2-5/8 x 2-1/2 inch notch in the bottom of the bumper cover/fascia as shown in step # 5 of the linked installation instructions.
If you don't wish to notch the bumper cover/fascia, you could use the Draw-Tite Class II hitch, part # 36598 which wouldn't require any trimming, however the hitch will be much more visible. I'll link you to an install... view full answer...
The Replacement Bottom Channel Cover for Thule AeroBlade Load Bars # 852-4498-001 does not need to be glued into place; it should fit snugly because of the barbed sides on the strip that will keep it in the channel. I've linked a photo from our product page that shows this. If you wanted to provide it with some extra security, you could use some small amounts of super glue. view full answer...
I can see why this might be confusing, and I can tell you that the 2017 Jeep Compass with a manual transmission can be flat towed, where the "All New 2017 Compass" cannot- this would explain the differences between the two manuals. Since these are two distinct vehicles, you would just need to know which version of the 2017 Jeep Compass you've got in order to make the determination as to whether or not it is flat-towable. If you're not sure, then your best bet is to contact Jeep with your... view full answer...
From what I was able to find it looks like the Kat's Heaters Custom Fit Engine Block Heater # KH11812 will install near the battery/fuse box on your 2016 Jeep Compass. I don't have the exact location though so you might need to do some poking around before you find it. view full answer...
While you will not have to drill mounting holes for the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e48AR on your 2023 Jeep Compass, you may have to increase the size of an access hole to insert the square hole spacers inside your frame. You will also need to trim a small portion of your rear fascia for the receiver tube.
I recommend installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C66BR when you install the receiver. This will give you a 4-way flat connector. This connector is the most... view full answer...
For your 2019 Jeep Compass, to install the Curt Hitch # C13363 which is a custom fit, you would need to drill those holes and install the hardware. We haven't seen any models that don't have the two holes on each side of the vehicle in those frame rails, so they would need to be added. view full answer...
If you can get the exhaust to sit in its original location after installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13363 on your 2018 Jeep Compass then that is what I recommend doing.
Sometimes after installing a trailer hitch the exhaust cannot be reinstalled in the same location without touching the trailer hitch. This produces some unwanted noise so if putting the exhaust in the original place makes it touch the trailer hitch then I wouldn't move it. It is perfectly fine right where it... view full answer...
From what I could find, it looks like there is still trimming needed to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 76144 on your 2020 Jeep Compass Trailhawk. I included an install video we did on a 2020 Compass for you to check out, but it is not a Trailhawk edition, unfortunately.
I double checked and it looks like the Curt # C13363 for the 2020 Jeep Compas will require trimming as well, but in a different spot. This is due to it being installed slightly different than the # 76144. view full answer...
Yes, the install of the etrailer hitch part # e48AR would be the same on a 2020 Jeep Compass and a 2023 since they are the same generation. view full answer...
You are correct. If you don't have brakes on your trailer then you can just use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 as an adapter and then only connect the 12V power to the battery on your 2018 Jeep Compass to help maintain your battery level. I do recommend routing the brake controller wire from the 7-Way at least up to the engine compartment though since this is duplex wiring. This will make it easier to install a brake controller if you need to do so in the future.

In general a 4WD vehicle performs best with tire chains on all four tires, since all four tires deliver traction. But if you only want to use one set most often they will do the most good on the rear tires.
Chains are selected based on tire size, which can be found right on the tire sidewall. If you click on the link provided you'll see how the tire size code, like 205/70-16, is indicated. Once you confirm your tire size just click on that size to see the chains that fit those tires. For... view full answer...
From what I could find there should only be one of the plug that has wires leading to the body of your 2014 Jeep Compass. This is the plug that you will connect the T-One # 118539 tees to. I have attached a picture from the installation instructions as well as a photo from the attached install video on a 2015 Compass that you can reference.
If you are still having issues please send me a picture of your tail light so I can help you determine which plug you need to use. view full answer...
To convert the 4-way of your 2018 Jeep Renegade to a 7-way all you'd need is the install kit part # ETBC7 with a brake controller like the part # TK63VR and you'd be set. The ETBC7 comes with everything needed to convert to the 7-way as well as all wiring needed for a new brake controller. view full answer...
Are you speaking of the Tekonsha Prodigy RF? If so, the trailer connector on the vehicle needs funtional lighting circuits and a 12-volt constant power supply to the pin on the 7-way trailer that's in the 1:00 position. Assuming that you're using an adapter such as the # 37185, you'd plug the 4 pin plug on the adapter into the corresponding plug on the vehicle, ground the white wire to the vehicle chassis or frame and extend the black wire so it'll reach the vehicle's positive battery terminal.... view full answer...
The Draw-Tite # 36598 will install onto a 2021 Jeep Compass without modification to the rear bumper or fascia. You will need to remove some caulk from the frame and bend the exhaust hanger brackets a little to get it to fit, however. We do have this hitch in a 2 inch version as well. The Draw-Tite # 76144, depending on what you will be using it for, may be a better option as it allows for more options with bike racks and other accessories. I included and install video as well for you to... view full answer...
Because of the way the muffler sits transversely behind the rear bumper, it's not possible to install a hitch on a 2nd generation Compass without temporarily dropping the exhaust. The exhaust tips and muffler will prevent you from accessing the frame mounting points on the passenger side.
As you can see in the installation video for the Draw-Tite # 76144, the installation isn't too terribly difficult. I'll also link to a video showing the typical process to easily lower an exhaust.
