Basically there is no easy way to convert the European 7-Way to a US 4-Way. We do not carry any kind of adapter that you could use. You are left with 2 options. First, you would install a separate wiring harness which would be the easiest. Or, you could attempt to fabricate an adapter.

I wonder why Curt does not have one specifically for your 2017 Volvo V90. I do want to make you aware that Curt does not have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13305 fitting the V90, so even if it is does physically fit by installing it on the V90 could void any warranty on the hitch. With that being said, we have a customer that did successfully install it on his V90, I attached the picture he included with his review.

You can use the Curt Echo Brake # C51180 with the Stealth Hitches 7-way. The lid on the 7-way will attach to the tab of the Echo to keep it secured. There isn't a short extension with a 90-degree elbow that we offer though you can use one if you find it. The controller does not need to be fixed relative to the vehicle, but does need to be on the vehicle as it uses its deceleration to apply the brakes, and it'll take longer to apply the brakes if it is away from the tow vehicle. view full answer...
The Stealth Hitches # SH67FR will actually fit both the Cross Country and standard models. This is just the bike rack or accessory package hitch so you will need to get the # SH36FR as well if you plan on towing. This also includes the wiring so you will need no other parts to get towing properly.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 76194 fits a 2016-2023 Volvo XC90 it will not fit a 2018 Volvo V90. I confirmed this information with Draw-Tite and our own installation guide. The crossbar is required to hang down a few inches below for the XC90 than it does the V90. That's why the mounting holes can be in the same spot but this not work.
