Since the frame on your Featherlite 3110 is mostly covered you wouldn't really have any other option but to bolt Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier # FSTC1000301 to the outside of the frame at the front of the trailer. If your 2011 Volkswagen Touareg has a 7-Way connector then the Curt Adapter # C35FR is what you are loking for. According to the picture you sent in your trailer has a 4-Way flat connector. The adapter has 1 male pin and 4 female pins for the trailer connector which makes it compatible with both 4-Way flat and 5-Way flat trailer connectors.
