The wiring kit you are going to need to go with is one that has a thick enough gauge to provide the amperage requirements of your winch and also has a long enough length to make it from your battery to the rear of the vehicle.
Since I looked up the overall length of your 2006 Mercury Mountaineer and found that it's right at 16 foot I would recommend the Bulldog winch wiring kit part # BDW20043 which is 3 gauge and 16 foot in overall length. view full answer...
On your 2005 Mercury Mountaineer, if it came with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then the brake controller port will be located behind the glove compartment. If it came with a factory 4-Way then the brake controller will need to be hardwired in using # ETBC7.
For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because its easy to set up and use. For a wiring harness the correct one is # 3035-P. view full answer...
The Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer have 6-pin connectors behind the glove box on the passenger's side that you would use for the installation of a brake controller with the # 3035-P.
I attached an install video that shows where it is as well. view full answer...
You are testing correctly for the left and right turn signals, but the 3rd female plug you are testing is the taillight circuit. If you turn on the running lights you should get 12 volt power at the connection that the brown wire runs into.
To test the brake lights at the trailer connector you need to apply the brakes and test the connectors that the green and yellow wires go into. These are the same connections that you tested for the turn signals.
Trailer wiring combines the left turn/brake... view full answer...
If the black wire on your 2001 Mercury Mountaineer is the 12V power wire from the vehicles battery you will want to connect that wire to the terminal at the eleven oclock position on the back of the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector, part # HM48470.
When wiring the Hopkins connector to your vehicle I would recommend to use a circuit tester like the Quickee Tester, # 3808 to test the functions of the wires and wire the connector by function and not just color.

The only trailer hitches available for the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer are designed to fit below the factory hitch. None are available that replace it. the hitches, such as # 75132 as an example, are rated for 500 pounds tongue weight and 5,000 pounds gross trailer weight. But this could exceed the capacity of the vehicle depending on how it is equipped so check the trailer towing section in the owner's manual for the capacity of your model.
I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900.... view full answer...
From my research your 2004 Mercury Mountaineer AWD with the 4.0L V6 and Class II tow package has a maximum towing capacity of 3,275 pounds. I recommend checking your printed owner's manual or with Ford to verify this. I also found that you're required to use a weight distribution system when towing over 3,500 pounds. So if you find you can tow your 4,500 pound camper with your Mercury you definitely want to use weight distribution. In which case I also recommend replacing your Class... view full answer...
Yes the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Dometic Setup w/ Start Capacitor # ACDOM135 will work great as a replacement for your older Dometic Duo-Therm Air Conditioner.
This air conditioner requires a minimum frame thickness of 3/4", so since yours is over that, you're good to go.
Additionally, we do also offer this unit in black # ACDOM135B, if you're interested.
Both of these units have a 13,500 Btu cooling capacity, a 500 cubic feet/minute air flow rate, and will plug... view full answer...
All you need to install the discontinued Yakima Space Case on your 2004 Mercury Mountaineer is crossbars with 30" to 36" spacing between them.
If you don't already have crossbars for your vehicle I recommend the Rhino-rack system which uses the following parts:
Crossbars # RRVA118B-2
Feet # RRSX100
These crossbars will install on the factory raised rails you have and will be adjustable to the range the Space case you have needs. The mounting hardware the Space case uses will have no... view full answer...
You would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. This comes with everything needed to make the conversion and install the controller. There is no brake controller wiring present on your vehicle since it only has the 4-way.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy... view full answer...
The Pro-Series weight distribution system # PS49903 comes with 1-1/4 inch diameter hitch ball hole. For a 2 inch ball you would need to add # A-90.
Both the 2-5/16 inch ball and A-90 come with wrench flats so you will be able to use properly sized wrenches to remove/install a ball. If you do not have the tools readily available some auto parts stores will loan out tools. view full answer...
I did some checking and it looks like your 2007 Mercury Mountaineer has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. You would need to check your owners manual or with Mercury to verify this based on how the vehicle is equipped.
We have hitches like the Draw Tite part # 75437 which has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs and 500 lbs tongue weight when not used with a WD system and 8,000 lbs and 800 lbs when used with a WD system.
The overall towing capacity for a vehicle is always the lowest rated component.... view full answer...
I do have an option for you but I think we first need to verify that we are indeed looking for the correct rise/drop amount in a ball mount. In order to verify that we have the correct rise/drop needs we first need to measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube on the trailer hitch and then subtract from this the distance from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on the trailer while level. The above calculations will then give us the correct rise/drop we need... view full answer...
There are two good recommendations for you but I would not recommend using a hitch adapter to carry a 2 inch shank cargo carrier in a 1-1/4 inch hitch. The reason is that the adapter reduces the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50 percent, and you would need to be very careful not to overload the hitch and vehicle frame, causing damage. The reduction in capacity is due to the extra torque that is applied when placing the weight farther away from the rear of the vehicle.
The first recommendation... view full answer...
On your 2008 Mercury Mountaineer there should be a wiring harness that is attached to the 4-way wiring near the rear of your vehicle that has the brake controller wiring. This is the wiring that you would connect the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole # 37185 to.
You would plug your 4-way into the # 37185 and then wire the brake controller output circuit to the blue wire, the auxiliary 12 volt power to the black wire, ground the white wire, and then run the purple to a reverse lockout circuit if... view full answer...
According to my research your 2003 Mercury Mountaineer AWD V8 cannot be flat towed in its stock state.
Although base plates are still offered to enable use of a tow bar, the neutral switch modification kit required to flat tow this vehicle is no longer available from Ford. You may be able to find more information from your local dealership and/or by consulting with your owners manual.
Based on the available information your 2003 Mountaineer should only be towed by trailer, not by a tow... view full answer...
The Thule Sidekick Cargo Box, # TH78GC, will fit your 2009 Mercury Mountaineer with factory roof rack (side rails and cross bars).
If your Mountaineer just has side rails that run front to back, you will first need to add cross bars using Thule Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401, 53" WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420, as well as locks # TH450400.
The Sidekick mounts to your vehicles cross bars using U-bolts that come with the box. view full answer...
A 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter is not available for towing, those are for accessories like bike racks only. So if you want to tow with the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer you'd need to add a 2 inch hitch. The good news is there is a hitch designed to fit directly under the OEM hitch so you don't have to remove it, and what you'd need is the following:
- etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e55KR
If you also need a 4-way wiring harness the correct part is the Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM40655. view full answer...
