Hello Ryan. The Curt Class 1 Hitch will not fit the 2017 Audi A3 e-tron, because the manufacturer specifies it will not fit the e-tron model.
The only hitch for the 2017 Audi A3 e-tron is the stealth hitch # SH46ZR. This comes complete with the hitch, towing kit and wiring harness. view full answer...
Hi Mike; there is no way to install the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH64ZR without removing the bumper. Stealth Hitches specifically lists this as a fit for the A3 Sportback e-tron models so it will fit your 2017. If you plan on towing you need the # SH46ZR instead which comes with the towing kit. I went ahead and attached the instructions below so you can see what the process is like. view full answer...
Hey Phillip, thanks for reaching out!
The only way to get a hitch fitted to your 2024 Audi A3 is if you have a shop fabricate the Curt Hitch # E17 in some form or fashion. We do have some alternative ways for you to carry bikes with custom-fit carriers if you're interested in going that route.
The first method is to use a trunk mount rack like the Thule OutWay 2 Bike # TH45JV. I really like this carrier because it's a pretty simple installation, but more importantly has a smaller profile... view full answer...
The T-bolts in the Yakima Replacement T-Bolt with Nut for Yakima Rack and Roll Trailers # Y8880184 are going to measure 3/8" x 1" long. The next size up would be 3" long, but if you can let me know the product you're trying to replace the hardware for I may be able to find an appropriate hardware replacement kit for you. view full answer...
Hello Paul, thanks for reaching out. The Curt # C11399 is not listed for the 2025 Audi A3, because according to the manufacturer, it is only confirmed to fit the 2015-2020 A3. It has not been tested on or confirmed for the 2025 model since we always stick to the manufacturers fitment guide.
Sadly, there is no hitch for the 2025 Audi A3 Quatro, so if you need to carry cargo, the only option would be to do so with a roof rack like the Thule # TH25AG along with a roof mounted cargo carrier... view full answer...
The hitch I suggest for your 2018 Audi A3 is the Curt # C11399. I recommend this Class I hitch because it easily bolts on with included hardware (no drilling except you will need to enlarge some existing holes) and because its main cross tube will be mostly hidden behind your rear bumper fascia for a clean look. Installation instructions are linked for you.
Since you have fairly heavy e-bikes you'll need a special bike rack made for that extra weight. The rack that I recommend is the industry-leading... view full answer...
Hey Tom,
For your 2016 Audi A3 the Curt # C11399 is going to fit your car as long as it is not the E-Tron. It is a not drill install so it bolts right up to your frame. As long as you don't have an E-Tron model this hitch is going to work for you.
What are you looking to use the hitch for? view full answer...
I can not recommend you do that since that battery is going to drain pretty quickly and leave you without trailer lighting and you'll have no way of knowing while driving. I know it seems like a hassle but running the power wire up to the vehicle battery is the only safe way we can recommend you install the part # 119250KIT in your 2017 Audi A3.
I attached a help article that has tips on this process for you to check out as well. view full answer...
For your 2016 Audi A3 the correct part number for the Curt hitch is part # C11399. Curt recommends using the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap part # 18050 to reduce chucking and jarring for all non-towing applications. The support strap must be used to abide by their warranty. The Curt hitch is made in the U.S.A. This is a great option for you.
If you can tell me what you will be using the hitch for, I would be glad to offer some additional recommendations for you but in the meantime,... view full answer...
Hi Ken!
There is a way to carry a bike on your new 2026 Audi A3, but there are currently no hitches available. I was hoping there was one for a 2025 model as there was no design change for the 2026 models, but I came up dry there as well. So with that said, you have two options. A roof rack, or a trunk mounted rack.
Roof Rack: For this option, I recommend the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack for Naked Roofs - Aluminum - Black - Qty 2 # TH25AG. I think black goes with everything (though we... view full answer...
We have trunk mounted bike racks that fit the e-tron versions of the 2016 Audi A3 like you have with the Yakima FullBack part # Y02634 but the Saris you mentioned does not fit so it would not be the way to go.
I attached a picture of this rack installed on an E-tron just like yours for you to check out as well. view full answer...
Happy to help, and the photo you are referencing (below) is of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent with the garnish (collar piece). It does have a power lift, and the separation you are seeing is just the vent open. So yes, there is a power lift unit different from a manual lift. The power lift is the 700k you mentioned, and is available in both white and black:
- White: MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift # MA00-07000K
- Black: MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent... view full answer...
Hey there Ted; thanks for writing in, and there's actually just a single hitch that fits your 2017 Audi A3 e-tron, from Stealth Hitches. The correct part number for your Audi is the following:
- Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH64ZR
The # SH64ZR is designed specifically for accessories only and not trailer towing, so it's perfect for your application. I really like the Stealth Hitches options as well because they ensure your Audi completely maintains its factory look when you... view full answer...
I may have a solution for you if you're just looking to carry bikes, but there are unfortunately not hitches that have been designed to fit on the 2016 A3 e-Tron. However, the Yakima Fullback # Y02633 is designed to fit a variety of vehicles and has been confirmed to fit on the 2016 Audi A3 e-Tron and would allow you to carry up to 3 bikes. The Fullback is a great solution that has adjustable arms to help keep the bikes level and comes with locks to secure the bikes and the rack to the... view full answer...
Hey Genya, thanks for reaching out and giving me all of the details!
The correct replacement strip for the Thule WingBar Edge Roof Rack # TH86RG on your 2015 Audi A3 is the Kit # 1500052989, which is just 2 sets of the 54242 that you found on the Thule site.
I know you said these didn't fit, but hear me out; Thule ships these strips out as one piece but you'll actually need to pull the 2 separate pieces apart and then install them individually into the T-Slot channel on your crossbars.... view full answer...
I spoke with my contact at SMI and he advised not to install the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251, which you referenced, under the seat but to install it on the toe kick per the installation instructions. He said it will not work if placed under the seat because the unit needs to be mounted level as it is working off inertia.
The operating unit measures 8" long x 6-1/4" x 2-1/2" tall. (See photo.)
He said the units have been fitted in all new Jeep models and that they will fit, you will just... view full answer...
I cannot go against the trailer manufacturer and tell you that a class I hitch will be fine when they recommend using a class II hitch but that seems like a rather odd request to me as most other trailer manufacturers do not specify the hitch class so long as the vehicle and hitch are both capable of pulling the weight of the trailer. Therefore, I would think you would be okay but again I can't tell you to do something the trailer manufacturer says not to.
Unfortunately the only trailer... view full answer...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11399 will fit your 2020 Audi A3. I recommend using the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH64ZR with Towing Kit # SH34ZR for your 2020 Audi A3 sedan. This has a removable 2" receiver for hitch mounted accessories as well as a 2" ball mount for towing a small trailer. It also includes wiring for a 4-way flat connector. view full answer...
Yes you are correct that we only carry Class I hitches for this vehicle because Class II hitches are generally too heavy duty for towing with vehicles like your 2015 Audi A3. One point to check first would be the weight of the jet ski and trailer. A jet ski could weigh between 450-1100lbs and a trailer an additional 250lbs or more. I looked up the maximum trailer weight in the owners manual that let me know a trailer for your vehicle is limited to a typical Class 1 or Class 2 trailer.... view full answer...
The only solution we have for a 2012 Audi A3 for towing behind a motorhome would be with a tow dolly like the Demco Kar Kaddy part # DM9713093. There isn't a flat towing setup that has been confirmed as a fit and if a Golf setup would work it would definitely be listed.
Tow dollys end up costing less by the time you add up all of the expensive flat towing components and install time for everything. view full answer...
