Hi everyone, I'm Evangeline right here at etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Raxgo wall-mounted kayak carriers. Now, it is currently off season for kayaking for me, I'm not quite a winter kayaking person, so for me, in our garage, we have our kayaks all stacked up on top of each other, not exactly the best way to store them. If you're looking for a much more low-profile, as well as stable way to store your kayaks, this is something worth looking at. We have this here as a set of two. So you can see that our top cradles are in their compact position, as if you're out and about going kayaking, and then the bottom cradle has a kayak on it.

So this is very adjustable for kayaks, or even canoes of different shapes and sizes. The main thing is, you can set it up to what fits you, your space and your kayaks best. These cradles are gonna be made of steel, and they have multiple mounting points, so you can adjust for those different sizes. So as you make those adjustments, you have carriage bolts and nuts that allow you to slide these out for larger kayaks or canoes, or bring this in for a small one. Your maximum weight capacity of these cradles are gonna be 77.2 pounds, so that is a pretty heavy kayak.

Mostly adjustment will be done at the base, but at the very tip, there's also a slight adjustment here where you can bring out that edge a little bit further, or keep it a little closer together, which is what I have. So when I carry around kayaks, it's very important for me, just get all of my measurements ahead of time and just really plan it all out before loading the kayak on there. Like for me, I have some medium-weight kayaks that I can lift for just a really short amount of time, so I like having my cradles a little lower to the ground, easy lifting angle. You also have to think about where you are installing it, since these are wall-mounted kayak racks, do you need that wall space for other things Do you have the proper support to install this into If you are curious about the install, I will show you how I got these installed later in this video. But for me personally, the alternative was just having the kayaks on the ground, something that I tripped over a lot, and just wasn't safe for the kayaks.

So now, having them mounted flush up against the wall is totally an upgrade. If you have a similar story, I would love to hear about it. How do you carry your kayaks And what have you found is the best solution for you, or is the solution that you are looking for If you send in a picture with your review, maybe you'll inspire some other people along the way. The most important thing is finding the best storage solution for you. For example, here at etrailer, Raxgo has some other storage options.

If you don't wanna make permanent holes in your wall, you can check out their floor standing version. That one works great for carrying kayaks, but does take up a lot more room when not in use. Compared to our wall-mounted version here, I prefer that, simply because it's a lot more compact when I do go kayaking. If you wanna see that installation process, here we go. So, a lot of these bolts and anchors are designed for when you are installing it into concrete or brick, so this also comes with a disclaimer to use the hardware that best matches where you are mounting. Now, I already mounted most of our setup here, so we get to mount this cradle together. First start with planning out where you are putting your cradles. If you are installing more than one set of cradles, you also have to think about the distance apart from each other. Is your kayak really wide when it's mounted up Will it come in contact with the other kayak Things like that. You'll also have to consider the width apart for your cradles. If you have a longer kayak, you may want your cradles a little bit further apart than we have here up top. So once you figure all that out, your next step is to plan out your mounting holes, and make sure you have a spot from side to side that's gonna be level, and at the same distance up from the ground, things like that, to make sure you have a square mounting location. Once you found your mounting hole location, you also wanna confirm that they are in a stable spot. If you can mount these to the stud, that's the best option. Here we have our cradle, and I'm going to just make a little marker for where we need to drill into the wall (drill whirring) to match up with both holes. And then secure your cradles with the Phillips head screw. Notice how I'm using a Phillips head bit. (drill whirring) Secure this to the wall. With the base of the cradle now all set up, you can see how we have that compact, and then out position, now it's time to attach the other end of the cradle. These are adjustable in the sense that you have multiple mounting holes, so you can just line up with the distance that you need for your kayak. For example, we're going to our shortest one right now. And then what secures our side of the cradle is gonna be this carriage bolt. So you have a carriage bolt on one side, and then you have a nut on the other side tightening down. I set these up to be a bit lower to the ground, just to make it a little easier for me to lift the kayak up and onto our kayak cradle. So see here, now it's on there, I can now adjust if needed for a better fit, but I think this looks great, and I have space up top for a second kayak. Get those kayaks off the ground here with our Raxgo adjustable wall mount kayak rack. My name is Evangeline here at etrailer, hopefully you enjoyed the journey.
