Front Suspension Support

A heavy front load can cause front-end sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the front axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your rear axle, your rear tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy front load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your rear tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Hello neighbors, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for your front axle. Now folks, these are a custom fit application. Make sure you're using our fit guide on etrailer.com. Top center of the homepage. Enter your year, make and model.

Make sure you're getting the right parts the first time. This particular set here is gonna fit a 2007 through 2009 Freightliner FRED Chassis. That's right, FRED Chassis, as you know, is an acronym for Front Engine Diesel. So that's the chassis that's we're looking at, and these are a nice set of helper springs to upgrade your vehicle's front suspension. And they're gonna give you an improved driver control and comfort.

Now they will support heavy front end loads, keep that vehicle level, also help absorb bumps, shocks, minimize sway. They do have what's called progressive low control so the springs can compress, according to the weight of your cargo. Obviously, I'm not heavy enough to make these compress, but I went ahead and threw a graphic up here. Keep in mind the color of the rubber can change, depending on the temperature that they molded at, et cetera, et cetera, supplies. And obviously the one in this photo here locally is a different shade of blue than what you're looking at on my table.

But that's how they compress. And as I said, they have the progressive load control. That way when you have a heavier load, they're gonna do more. If you have less, they have less. So very simple install, you'll simply install these through the frame.

And they have the included hardware here, all the instructions, included with it. It's a very simple, quick install. You should be removing the old jounce stoppers and putting these right back in the place of the old ones. Now a nice thing about these is they do compress or can compress as much as 80% to give you support that you need. And on the lighter loads, the spring's gonna compress easy at first, but then it'll get stiffer, the more weight it has on there and that kind of thing. So again, that's that progressiveness I was talking about. And they also work independently from one another. So let's say you had a front end for whatever reason on one side a little heavier than the other, one side could compress a little more, but help even out everything. Now these do also help reduce body roll whenever you're doing those sharp turns. They are made of a durable microcellular urethane. They do work at all temperatures, ranging from negative 25 Fahrenheit all the way up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. And the material, again, does reduce or resist damage, oil, road salt, UV rays, none of that's gonna hurt this stuff. They have very minimal lateral expansion, so meaning the springs compress vertically instead of side to side. Now again, they are maintenance free. You don't have to run tubing like you do on air compressors and those kind of kits, anything like that. Again, no drill install whatsoever. They're made in the USA and they have a rating of 1000 pounds at 50% compression. Folks, they do offer a nice limited lifetime warranty as well from SumoSprings. So I think you'll be happy with these. Again, '07 to '09 Freightliner FRED Chassis. I'm Steven, thanks for watching and have a great day.
