What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this UWS Toolbox, and that's gonna be a crossover style and low profile, and then we're gonna put it in our 2020 Ford F-150. By the way, I'm gonna explain what I meant by the low profile, it means it's only gonna come up about three inches from your bed rails, which means if you look at the backseat, it's still under the seat and the headrest, so it's not gonna impede your vision in the rear view mirror, and if you look down, crossover style means the toolbox didn't go all the way down to the truck bed, that means you can still fit objects underneath here and close the tailgate, so you don't sacrifice your whole bed by putting a toolbox in. The space down here is gonna be 9 3/4 inches, and now that is with a truck bed mat in there that's taken up quite a bit of space there, so it's gonna take away from that gap, but that's still plenty of room to fit a ladder or some lumber under here and still use your truck bed. We're gonna have two latches, there's gonna be one on the driver's side, one on the passenger's side. The one on the driver's side actually locks up, so you can lock up all your tools when you're not around.

It's really easy to use, you just pull on either of the latches, just one of them, and the lid pops right open. You have the gas struts that help push that lid open, so you don't have to mess with it, you don't have to lift it up, it goes pretty easily, this one goes pretty quickly too it looks like. So that's pretty nice that you don't have to lift the lid yourself. Looking at the inside, the latches work in unison, so as I pull one here on the other side, the one on the driver's side moves as well. Another thing I like is it's got this guard here that's gonna protect the rod that goes in between them, that way, if you're just throwing stuff in there, maybe something heavy, it doesn't damage that rod and make it so that they don't work at the same time.

Looking here at the lid, you can see the latches here, there are the strikers that go into the latches. Now, these are adjustable, so if this wears down over time or something gets misaligned the more you use it, you can adjust it back, so it'll close right every time. Another thing that gets asked about are gonna be these gas struts, you can replace those as well just look on the side and see what rating they have, find how many force pounds, and then measure from center to center on these, and you can get a replacement part on our website. On the inside of toolbox, it's got 8.4 cubic feet of space, we also have a tray up here up top. Now, it's a plastic tray, which I really like, some other toolboxes have metal ones, and they rattle a lot when they're in the back there, you won't have the problem with this one, plus, it can slide from side to side, so if you want it over here with your most used tools that you wanna reach in, grab easily, you can slide over the driver's side if you want it over there instead.

Looking down here, we have an organizer for screwdrivers, there's plenty of holes here, you can just drop them in. One thing I will warn you though is the gas strut's right here, so if you had some longer screwdrivers, I would not put them here, it will hit that gas strut when you go to shut the lid on there, and that can be an issue and damage it, so I put them closer over here on the toolbox, that way, they won't interfere. Taking a look at how it attaches, you have the J-hook that comes down and attaches to the top railing of the bed. Now, on top side, we have a washer and a nut, and we tighten that down, and it holds it really well, there's no shaking with that box. It's attached really easily with just one of these on each side.

Along the outside of the lid, we have a foam liner that's gonna help keep the elements out. The lid itself is also foam injected, so not only is it gonna insulate the toolbox, but it helps keeps that structure, so if you we're to set something heavy up on top of there, it wouldn't necessarily dent it or crush the top of the lid, which I like that it is built that way. Another thing is the lip here on the lid doesn't just meet the top of the box like that, it actually goes down a little bit more over the box, so if I close this, show you it goes down quite a bit there, so then the elements can't get in the box that way. Taking a look at the box itself, it's gonna be made out of a black power coated aluminum, it's got a glossy black finish, and it's got diamond pattern all around there, so that's gonna help hide any scratches you might get from just throwing something roughly on top. Overall, I really like the box, I like that they can help me organize the truck bed and keep all my tools locked up, I don't have to worry about leaving them out, and it makes everything more organized here in the bed, and open to throw lumber ladders here in the bottom, I don't sacrifice it by having a toolbox that goes all the way down to the bed.
