Use the included gray thumb wheel to secure the holder to the rack, then place the wheel into the grooves of the wheel holder and tighten down the skewer.

Video Transcript for Saris Traps Fork-Block 3 Bike Rack Review

Colin: Hey guys, it's Colin here at eTrailer, and today we're going to take a look at the Saris Traps Fork Mounted Bike Carrier. This is a bike carrier that's going to be able to carry three bikes either in the bed of your pickup or the back of your SUV just using a small little track platform with three fork mounted bike rack blocks in the tracks. You're going to be able to take your front wheel off of your mountain bike, road bike, whatever you might have, and then mount it to the quick release nine millimeter skewer that comes on the block fork mount. Now, one thing I do want to point out is that if you plan on using this bike rack for the back of your SUV, one thing you're going to have to do is basically just flip the entire system backwards to where if your hatch is right here where I'm standing on the tailgate, then the base is going to be sitting right next to it and your back wheels will be more towards the front of the vehicle. That's just more than they're likely going to be the best way to fit it inside your SUV or your minivan. Now, my favorite thing about this rack is that this is eliminating the need for me to have to get a hitch mounted of bike rack, and it kind of solves my predicament I'm in because I have a truck. I want to use the bed, and I don't want to have to add any length to the back of my truck. Now, the other part of that is I don't want to just lay my bikes in the bed of my pickup. I don't want them getting scratched up, especially with my spray in bed liner.

This could really kind of scratch up and scuff up a nice bike frame, and I don't want them laying on each other either. So I'm kind of getting the best of both worlds right now. I've got my bikes mounted to their forks. They're very secure. They're not going to go anywhere, and I'm not adding any length to the back of my pickup.Let's go ahead and take a look at it on our test course.

Up first is going to be our inaudible 00:01:41, which is going to simulate side to side action like evasive maneuvering or taking a sharp turn. Now we're onto the solid speed bumps, which is going to simulate the up and down action like going over a speed bump or pulling into your driveway. And now our alternating speed bumps, which is going to simulate driving over uneven pavement like potholes. Now these quick release skewers are going to be nice and easy to use just like most other ones that you would find on a roof rack bike rack. Just flip open that clamp, and then we can loosen it up a little bit on this side. Get enough space in there to be able to get the forks out.

Once we have enough space, if you see that it's still kind of picking itself up, maybe loosen it a little bit more. From there you can see it comes right up and off. When you're ready to install it, you just get the forks onto the skewer and do the opposite. Tighten it down as far as you can. You want to make sure that the clamp is in the open position when you're tightening it down. It's still a little bit loose, so we'll tighten it up some more.

So we'll clamp that down. From there it's got a really solid hold of our bike. Now you can see here's one of the entry points to our track. The harbor here is going to come with your base carrier, and you'll get the fork block in its own package. With our bolts right here, we're just going to slide them into the track upside down. In this case, for optimal spacing of our bikes, we're going to kind of straddle the opening right there. We'll grab our fork block, put that over top. Grab a couple flat washers. Put it over top. And then take our cap nuts and put them on.And then from there we're just going to grab a seven sixteenths inch socket. Tighten it down all the way. Once you complete this with the other two blocks, you're going to be ready to load up your bikes and then hit the road. The base carrier does have a nice durable aluminum construction. It's also got a very nice black powder coat finish. It's going to help it resist rust and corrosion. You can see it's just very small and compact, which is something I really like about it. Makes it very easy to store. So if it's just sitting on our truck bed and it's empty, we could just take it and push it against the bulkhead of our pickup or we could even just toss it inside your truck. Fits under the seat very nice. Get all the way across. You can see it's out of sight. It's not going to be in the way.Overall, it's just going to be a very versatile bike carrier that's going to be a great choice for if you want to utilize your truck bed or just the space inside your SUV or a minivan rather than getting a hitch mounted bike rack.Well, thank you all for watching, but that's going to do it for our look at the Saris Traps Three Bike Carrier.

After one year still love this product! Use it in a 2019 Tacoma Short bed with a leer cover. My bike fits perfectly and is stabilized during travel - so easy to take in and out. Also use the wheel holder which works well. When not using the Sari track its so simple to take out of truck and store.

This works perfectly in my 2007 Nissan Quest minivan.

I am able to securely and rapidly store and transport 3 bikes wile keeping 3 seats usable in the van.

The base is heavy enough that it stays put so that the bikes stay still and do not knock into each other on the trip.

I *might* be able to fit 4 bikes in there, but only if I put down another seat, leaving room for only 2 passengers, so I'll say 3 bikes and 3 people in my minivan is the sweet spot for this.

It really is nice that I can load them so rapidly and that the bikes do not have to touch each other.

the product is very good from a durability stand point. But lacking a bit when it comes to flexibility of design. The platform at which the traps are attached could be further re-designed to include the ability to extend or contract to provide a better fit whether the application will be inside the back of a van or on a truck bed. Also some additional suggestion would be looking at ways to anchor the track when use inside a van or SUV. The price I paid for this product i would consider high because of the lack of versatility in terms of use. Would i recommend it? well if you are looking for a nice looking track with traps this would be your choice. Don't get me wrong the quality is very good I just wish a bit more thought was put into it before pricing it. There are other more economical ways to reproduce what this product can be used for; for a lot lot less.

In case you were wondering, YES, the Dirtbag mounts work perfectly with the Saris Trap rack. Actually they couldn't fit better if Saris made them themselves. I purchased some wing nuts to allow the racks to be changed out and moved around much easier.

Really love it. Installed in my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado with Leer Cap. I have two Trek Townies I take on camping trips. Bikes are safe secure and kept clean. I mounted the track to the bed of my truck because I felt it stayed much more secure that way. Even with the two bikes installed I have plenty of room for other camping gear.

by:

Awesome! Heavy enough that I don't have to bolt it down, and the rubber bottom grips to prevent sliding. I put 3 fork mounts on it with plenty of room to add a 4th if I need to

by:

Carrier works great in my 2010 Nissan X terra.

by:

Works really well. I probably should have gotten a wider base as it likes to flip at times.

by:

Received exactly what I ordered and the shipment was on time. Works just as advertised. The perfect solution for transporting bikes in my truck. I couldn’t be more pleased.

by:

Excellent product and well made. Looks great
