If you like a front end that stays clean when you’re not towing, this base plate nails it. The hidden design keeps the setup out of sight, and the removable arms pop off with a simple twist so nothing sticks past the bumper. When the arms are out, receiver covers plug in to keep dirt and debris out and give the front end a finished look.

The removable draw bars slide into the receivers and twist to lock securely in place—no fussing with complicated pins or tools. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, rotate the arms, and remove them just as easily. The twist-lock attachment makes it simple to get on the road or disconnect once you’re parked.

This base plate bolts directly to the chassis with no welding needed. The sturdy steel design spreads towing force evenly across the frame to help prevent stress on suspension components. Powder-coated for corrosion resistance, it’s built for long hauls through all kinds of weather and road conditions.
The kit pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a reliable link between your vehicle and motorhome. It also works with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5, and with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (adapters sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket so your wiring stays tidy and secure.
Straightforward assembly makes this a solid weekend project. The base plate bolts securely to your vehicle’s chassis using the included hardware—no welding required. With a distance between brackets of 18" and a bracket height of 18", you can plan your tow bar setup confidently knowing exactly how it lines up.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
